Anyways, in this review, I'll be going over a neat little program called SpaceSniffer. More info and a download link after the break!
There are plenty of programs that will graph out your hard drive and let you see what all is there. While WinDerStat is definitely prettier to look at with it's rainbow of colors, SpaceSniffer is the way to go if you just want a no-nonsense look at what all you have on your computer.
Now, this screen is of SpaceSniffer was loaded without Administrative Privileges. If you do decide to run it as Administrator, you will see a LOT more of your PC. However, I recommend starting it as is, especially i you don't know what programs are important and which aren't.
If you want a closer look at one of the boxes, simply double click the label at the top of the box. Here I'm looking at my Recycling Bin. This is a huge help if you want to know exactly what's causing a particular box to be so large.
The feature I love the most is the ability to delete unused folders and any other unnecessary data. Simply right click on the box label and select delete. Now it will ask you if you want to delete the file as Administrator, Click yes and move on.
Overall, SpaceSniffer offers a bare-bones at any and all files you have on your PC. Using this program, I was shocked to find folders containing traces of software I had uninstalled ages ago. Getting rid of said folders freed up a LOT of space. Also, it's 100% free! If you want to try it out for yourself, you can download it here.
I give SpaceSniffer a score of 100% XP Approved.
